Getting traffic is the key to building any online business. The more traffic you get, the better your chances are for success.

There are many ways to develop traffic to your website and today I would like to review just a few that have worked for me.

Register Your Website On Google

Register Your Website With GoogleRegistering your website on google is a huge plus for you. The sooner you do it the better as it takes a while for google to get rolling for you and your website needs to develop for some time to start listing fast.

Google is relatively easy to register with and I would suggest using both google analytics and webmaster tools to track your progress. Remember it takes a while so get on it right away and keep on it. Make sure your website is being crawled regularly as you add more content.

Bing and Yahoo

Since Bing and Yahoo joined forces it is even easier to register your website. You need to set up an account with bing webmaster tools and registering your site is easy. This is another great way to track your website traffic and as with google, it still takes a while to get rolling with them.

Registering with these three major search engines will definitely help increase your website traffic over time and become recognized. Register with both of these services as soon as you can.

Use Your Social Media AccountsUse Your Social Media Accounts

The way I see it, the more areas you have your website listed, the better you are. If you have a quality website and have something genuine to offer people, spread the word.

Everyone has social media accounts these days, if you don’t, then set some up. Link all of your social media accounts together and make sure to list them on your website as well. Spread your posts through your social media channels and spread awareness.

Keep all your social media accounts the same theme as your website. Make sure everything stays tied in to your niche that your website represents, tie in the same logos, backgrounds, etc. Keep everything relative to one another and try to keep the same name for all your social media accounts.

Utilize Video

Utilize Videos In Your CampaignsVideo is huge these days and everyone loves watching videos. Make sure you create a YouTube account at least, matched with your other social media accounts, and start making some videos. Make whatever you want in videos, do demonstrations and how-to’s, do product reviews, create some clips of training, whatever, just make sure it’s original and watch the rules and regulations if you are using other content in your videos, you don’t want to be kicked off for some stupid mistake.

Don’t worry about how you sound or if your words aren’t quite right, just do it. Remember that everyone is new at some point and you will learn and grow with practice. If you don’t want to be in front of the camera just yet, do demos from screen recording where you just talk and show people step by step how to do something or go over a product review.

Keep Adding Content To Your Website and Keep It Up To Date

Keeping Adding Content - Keep It Up To DateRemember to keep adding content to your website regularly once you are registered on the major search engines. Keeping content fresh will keep the search engines happy and help increase your rankings and keep bringing you up the ladder in placement.

Do not use repetitive content or content from other websites. Do not buy content that is available to everyone, it’s all the same and will give you bad points on the search engines. Google, Bing, and Yahoo want fresh, original content. Implement pictures in to your posts and make sure that they are royalty free as well. There are a few places you can access free pictures for your content but make sure the pictures are relevant to your post.

Another good practice to get in to is to make sure all of your pictures you use on your website have alt tags associated with them relative to your content or post that they are used in. Search engines also rank pictures on your website and having an alt tag related to your website will help in your rankings and enable people to find your website.

Find Other Groups and Blogs Related To Your Niche

Look around for other posting groups or blog groups related to your niche. Join these groups and become an active member. Start out slowly just posting comments and gradually work your way in to posting your own unique content as well once you get a feel for the group and become more recognized within the community.

Become A Recognized Expert In Your NicheBecome a Recognized Person Within Your Niche

Remember that you want to build quality traffic, not just numbers. You want people to come to you because you have something valuable to offer or share with them that they need. You want people to recognize you as someone who is the “go-to” person in your niche.

The more quality traffic you can direct to your website, the more you help people with their problems, the more they will trust you and purchase from you.

Don’t push people to just buy stuff from you because you have a store, they can go anywhere for that. Offer something they can’t get anywhere else or some knowledge that you can share that will help them solve a particular problem and people will come back and tell others.

Get your name, niche, and website out there and start building a reputation on search engines and social media outlets. Start spreading the word you are here and have something to share worthwhile.
